⚠️ Common Issues with MAG Boxes – And How to Fix Them
When using MAG boxes for IPTV, users may occasionally encounter a few specific issues. The most common problems include:
STB Blocked or a Black Screen
Page Loading Error
Loading Bar Getting Stuck
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the causes of these issues and how to resolve them effectively.
🛠️ STB Blocked / Black Screen Issue
The “STB Blocked” message on a MAG box—or in some newer cases, just a black screen—can occur for several reasons. Below, we’ll outline the most likely causes and what you can do to fix them.
🔍 Note: Some MAG boxes no longer display the "STB Blocked" error and instead show only a black screen, even though the issue remains the same.

🔧 MAG Box Troubleshooting: Causes of STB Blocked, Black Screen & Page Loading Errors
If you're experiencing "STB Blocked", a black screen, or a Page Loading Error on your MAG box, there are several possible causes. Below, we’ll break down each issue and how to resolve it.
🟠 1. MAC Address Not Linked to Subscription or Removed
For MAG devices, it's essential to link the box's MAC address to your IPTV subscription.
🔍 What is a MAC address in MAG boxes?
It's a unique identifier printed on the back or bottom of your device, usually starting with 00:1A:79...
If your IPTV provider offers a dashboard, log in to:
Add your MAC address to your subscription
Confirm whether it's still active
If no dashboard is available, you'll need to contact your IPTV provider directly to confirm or add your MAC address.
🛑 2. Incorrect MAC Address Entered
Entering the wrong MAC address in the IPTV dashboard will almost certainly result in a "STB Blocked" message or black screen.
Be sure to double-check every character—compare it with the sticker on the back of your MAG box before saving any changes.
⌛ 3. Expired Subscription
If your IPTV line has expired, you'll also encounter the STB Blocked error.
To fix this:
Log into your IPTV provider dashboard
Check your subscription status
Renew your line if it has expired
🚫 4. Line Disabled Due to Device Limit
Most IPTV providers restrict usage to a specific number of devices. If you exceed that limit, your line may be blocked.
Contact your IPTV provider to check if the subscription has been temporarily disabled due to simultaneous connections.
🌐 5. ISP Blockage
Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be blocking access to IPTV servers, causing black screens or failed loading.
How to check:
Try connecting your MAG box to a mobile hotspot (4G/5G). If it works, your ISP is likely the issue.
Contact your ISP for clarification.
Solution:
Use a VPN. However, MAG boxes don’t support VPN apps directly, so you’ll need to install the VPN on a compatible router that routes traffic for your MAG device.
🧭 6. Incorrect Portal Address
Just like the MAC address, if you enter the wrong portal URL, your MAG box won’t connect properly and will show the STB Blocked screen.
Double-check the correct portal address with your IPTV provider.
Enter it correctly in your MAG device settings.
Need help? Ask your provider or refer to a MAG box portal setup guide.
🌐 Page Loading Error
This issue is usually related to network or connection problems.
On the error screen, look for the "Ethernet Link" status:
"UP" means the Ethernet port is connected.
"DOWN" means it’s not connected to the router properly.
Also, verify:
Your MAG box is connected to the internet.
Your router has a stable connection.
Other devices on the network can access the internet.
✅ Summary Tips
Always enter MAC and portal addresses accurately.
Monitor device limits on your subscription.
Test your internet with another source if needed.
Use a VPN router if facing ISP restrictions.
🔧 How to Resolve This Issue
This error typically occurs when the setup box (STB) is not properly connected to the internet. Here's how to troubleshoot and fix it:
✅ Step 1: Check the Ethernet Cable Connection
Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected between your STB and router.
On your router, check the LAN port light where the STB is connected — it should be illuminated.
On the back of the STB, there should be two lights at the Ethernet port:
One orange
One green
If the lights on either the router or STB are not on, there’s likely a connection issue. In this case, we recommend replacing the Ethernet cable with a new one to rule out any hardware fault.
🔁 Step 2: Power Cycle the Devices
If the issue persists even after confirming the cable connection:
Unplug the power cables from both your router and setup box.
Wait a few seconds.
Plug the router's power cable back in first.
After about 2 minutes, plug in the STB's power cable.
This reset process helps re-establish a proper network connection and often resolves connectivity issues.

📶 Connection Issues Between Router and STB in Separate Rooms
If your router is in one room and your setup box (STB) is in another, connected via a powerline adapter or extended Ethernet line, here’s what to check:
Inspect the indicator lights on the wall socket or powerline adapter.
If the lights are off, it means the powerline has lost its connection to the router.
✅ Solution:
Reboot the router first.
Then reboot the powerline adapter (if used).
Once the indicator lights return, restart your STB.
Also, ensure the LAN light on the front of the powerline adapter is lit — this confirms a working Ethernet connection.
🔄 MAG Box Stuck on Loading Bar
If your MAG box is stuck on the loading screen or displays a loading bar for an extended time (often after switching it on), this issue can typically be resolved by:
Rebooting your modem/router
Rebooting the MAG box
Performing a power cycle on both devices usually clears up this problem and restores normal operation.
